The advantages of braided lines over monofilament are countless, but the first and most important asset is the breaking strength at the knot or linearly. There are multiple situations where a smaller line diameter helps us achieve a much more elegant presentation of the bait on the hook or the fishing lure.

Of course, the strength provided by a braided line is also an advantage when fishing in snaggy areas, where we need to prevent the fish from escaping during the fight.

Evidently, a thin diameter and greater strength also mean longer and more accurate casts. Imagine casting with a 0.10mm braided line to distances similar to a 0.25mm monofilament, and the ratio holds true for larger diameters as well – such that above 0.45mm, the casting distance with monofilament becomes increasingly shorter due to the increased diameter.
